Apprentice Lineman
Howard Electric Cooperative, a member-owned electric utility serving our local communities, is seeking qualified applicants for an immediate, full-time Apprentice Lineman position. This position participates in the cooperative’s structured apprenticeship program leading to Journeyman Lineworker status and provides hands-on training, progressive skill development, and the opportunity to build a long-term career serving our local communities.
It is preferred that the candidates be pending or recent graduates of an accredited electrical distribution training program or individuals currently working in a formal apprenticeship. Post-secondary technical education or experience in the electric utility industry is required.
The successful candidate must be available for on-call response and reside, or be willing to relocate, within 20 minutes (normal travel time) of our Fayette office.
Applicants should demonstrate an understanding of safe work practices related to electrical distribution and familiarity with OSHA regulations, Rural Utilities Service (RUS) standards, and the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC). A valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License and an excellent driving record are required. Candidates must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid and pole-top/bucket truck rescue certifications. Basic computer skills are also required. Howard Electric Cooperative maintains a strong commitment to safety, training, and professional development. This position involves physically demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions and requires the ability to work at heights and respond to emergency outages.
